Lockdown to Continue Until Cases Drop Below 1,000 a Day (17/2-21): Three weeks ago Government Minister Nick Gibb told Parliament that the criteria for easing lockdown included “hospitalisation rates, mortality, the rate of vaccination, and the challenge of the new variants”. He did not mention raw case numbers.
Today, the Telegraph reports that despite the successful vaccination programme that is expected to reduce hospital admissions and deaths to a fraction of their peak levels, the Government will not end the lockdowns until positive case numbers are below 1,000 a day.

We have a country overwhelmed by frail elderly in very decrepit states with multiple comorbidities. I have witnessed in my last job at an NHS Community Hospital that the old and frail are no longer allowed to die naturally and are endlessly treated in acute care, extending their miserable lives with doctors claiming they are doing the right thing. I would beg to differ, especially as we have such a breakdown in adult social care that these people can no longer be looked after with much dignity. They are often isolated and lonely.
All this was before the COVID-19 pandemic. There were times back then when it felt like a wartime field hospital. We were routinely short-staffed and struggled to keep our frail elderly patients safe. I worked with two nurses newly arrived from India who were aghast at what they were witnessing in our “famous NHS”. They told me that the hospital from where they had come in India was better than this.
I think we live in a society that just does not accept death.
If there is ever to be a reset – not a Great Reset, but a little reset – it should be one that enables us to ‘take back control’ of our own mortality and accept the circle of life and a natural progression towards death. As far as I know, there is a 100% risk of death in being alive. Of course, we don’t want this too soon but healthcare should be respected as a finite resource and medics should not fix everything just because they can. Rationing of care causes horrified responses and yet it is exactly what we are currently doing. In this crisis we are trading one life for another – often younger ones to save older ones. As a Society we need to consider our options and we should all be encouraged to prepare Advanced Decision Documents.»
Hotel Quarantine to Open on February 15th (5/2-21): The UK is set to follow Australia and New Zealand within the next two weeks in requiring all UK residents to put themselves up in guarded quarantine hotels when returning from abroad. The BBC has the details.
UK residents returning from coronavirus hotspots abroad will have to quarantine in hotels from February 15th, Government sources have told the BBC.
Owners will be asked to provide accommodation for more than 1,000 new people every day, documents suggest. Passengers will have to stay in their rooms for 10 nights, with security guards accompanying them outside.

Luckily for humanity, “vaccine hesitancy” is not yet a mental illness. However, all it would take was a low-key redefinition in a drab WHO office, as was the case with their 2009 loosening of the definition of “pandemic”. One could better argue that, since the WHO ICD-10 defines at paragraph F52.4 premature ejaculation under the category of mental health and behavioural disorders, by parity argument, anyone with a premature urge to vaccination should be incarcerated until treatment reduces the risk to them or members of the public. These parity arguments remind me of the same rhetoric which leads to the scientific justification for men being women and for calling breastfeeding, chest-feeding. As it happens, men do have breasts and can be referred to breast clinic, so by parity argument perhaps we should now refer to chest specialists as breast specialists?
Warped rationalism like this is morally and ethically debasing, difficult to counter by decent reason, and can have disastrous consequences for humanity. Surely, the basic, intuitive wisdom says it must be wrong to force well humans to have any chemicals forced into them? Why did these bioethicists not also cite UNESCO’s Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights as relevant international law?
These bioethicists should think more deeply about that which they propose and the logical endpoint of it. They may even consider a retraction. It would be lauded by this doctor.
Has this government by Flashman and his cabinet even admitted any fault, yet? Does anyone actually care if the vaccine is unsafe? Is it really just a case of give me any old injection ASAP so I might return to my life as I knew it? Or is it the case we will never return, because at that precise moment we will have crossed the bioethical Rubicon forever?
Furlough Scheme – Never about protecting jobs – It was about delaying unemployment to make sure you Complied (7/12-20): In March this year the recently appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak announced an unprecedented scheme in line with the draconian lockdown announced by Prime Minister, Boris Johnson. The furlough scheme according to the Chancellor was to protect jobs, and the government’s way of showing they really cared by doing “whatever it takes” to help Joe Bloggs. How naive the majority were….
The furlough scheme was never about protecting jobs, it was created to delay unemployment and ensure that the majority would comply with the new fascistic, dictatorial, technocratic rule about to spread across the land. What better way to ensure the majority would play their part in the destruction of the economy and life as we knew it, than pay them to sit on their backsides with money printed out of thin air.

The journal argued that Covid-19 had “unleashed state corruption on a grand scale”, and that politicians and industry are guilty of “opportunistic embezzlement”.
