All foreign students coming to Russia are required to strictly follow the migration rules of the Russian Federation!
Notarised Passport Translation
Do not forget to submit the original translation of your passport to the Foreign Department (B-102).
You will also need it when applying for a Student Social Card (better make a copy in advance).
Insurance, Medical Examination and Dactyloscopy
From the first day of staying in Russia, every foreign citizen must have a Medical Insurance Policy. You can obtain a student policy at any Insurance Organisation or through the Foreign Department (B-102).
All foreign students (except for citizens of the Belarus Republic, as well as those who have a Temporary Residence Permit or a Permanent Resident Card) staying on the Russian Federation territory are obliged to undergo the following within 90 days from the date of crossing the border:
1. Medical examination;
2. Compulsory State Dactyloscopic Registration and photographing procedure.
Notify your location
Do not forget to inform the Visa Department about all your travelling within Russia or leaving abroad.
Students must inform the Foreign Department about their departure to another region or outside the Russian Federation at least 10 days in advance. Please, if you know your return date, specify the exact period in which you will leave Moscow.
Registration processing
Foreign Department carries out Migration Registration only for those foreign citizens who live in the dormitory. Other students are obliged to register themselves at the place of their actual location, following all the terms established by the Legislation of the Russian Federation and provide a copy of the registration documents to the office B-102.
Submission of Documents to Register for Migration Status
On the first business day after crossing the border of the Russian Federation you must attend the Foreign Department (B-102) for registration process.
To extend your Registration Document, please contact the Foreign Department 25 calendar days prior to the expiry date of your Registration Document.
You are required to bring the following documents with you:
- Identification Document (Passport);
- Temporary Residence Permit or Permanent Resident Card (if available);
- Migration Card;
- Valid Visa (for visa-entry countries);
- Valid Registration Document;
- Dactyloscopy Document.
Visa extensions
To extend a Visa, a foreign citizen must personally attend the Foreign Department (B-102) no later than 1.5 months before the Visa expiry date and provide the following:
- Application form (to be signed by the foreign citizen manually);
- Photo 3x4 - 1 pc;
- Identity Document (Passport);
- Migration card;
- Registration Document;
- Payment of the State Duty Certificate;
- Current Semester Payment Certificate (for fee-paying students).
Document Alterations and Loss
If you change your place of residence (moving from one address to another or changing your dormitory), you must notify the Foreign Department within three business days.
In case of losing documents (Passport, Migration Card, Notification on Migration Registration) a foreign citizen is required to immediately apply to the nearest Police Office at the place where the document was lost or found missing in order to obtain a Certificate of Incident and also to inform the Foreign Department. The foreign student shall independently take measures to recover lost (stolen) documents.
In case of changes in information about the identity document type or details, confirming the right to stay in the Russian Federation, as well as family name, first name, patronymic, date and place of birth, gender or citizenship, the foreign student is obliged to report these facts to the Foreign Department within 1 day.
